For Project number 3 I chose the heteronym “Refuse”.

Immediately I thought of garbage after reading the definition on the heteronym website. Refuse is either “trash and garbage”, or “to deny”. So i felt that to convey the idea of refusal i needed to use a wall to block someone from what they want or where they are going. I also used no entry signs to help convey the alternate meaning of the heteronym.

The other half of the collage was a bit more straight forward, garbage pile made out of garbage. I found many different arranges of garbage, from grass to office furniture. after i arranged all of them I wanted to make them to be pixel shaded and used the filter cutout to animate the trash. The background was composed of a cutout from another picture and copied multiple times. Both of the compositions have the background tile but are arranged in a different way.

The only problem i really had was trying to match the colors and compositional balance between both sides of the portrait.
